Parents Advocating Collectively for Kin (PACK) is an alliance of people who reside in theprovince of British Columbia. Our members have unique expertise as individuals who use or have used currentlyillicit drugs working alongside our impassioned dedicated allies.

Amidst a devastating public health emergency that is claiming record-breaking numbers of innocent substance users to preventable overdose deaths, there exists a fundamental need for increased support for the most vulnerable members of the drug user community.

Mothers and birthing parents who are or have been substance users face an extreme level of scrutiny and stigma that allows for the continuation of outdated and harmful policies and practices.

PACK is committed to addressing these dangerous standards by facilitating the development of programs, providing services and resources related to the safety and well-being of mothers/birthing parents and their children.Particularly those who face risk related to MCFD engagement.

PACK serves as a voice to our community by ensuring regional representation and community-based participation in BC’s response to the overdose crisis and any and all matters impacting mothers and birthing parents who use (or have used) drugs.Our mandate is to work within a harm reduction, trauma-informed and intersectional model ofcare and practice.

● Parenting for Lifelong Health programming developed in a Canadian Indigenous context with PACK and Oxford University

● A system of support instead of a system of apprehension and harms

● Emergency Funding for families in crisis

● Move from mandatory reporting to mandatory supporting

● Abolish the Family Policing System and instead invest in immediate, extended family and community supports
